The Gunch can weigh 1000 pounds and grow to 9 foot.
It is one of the biggest catfish ever.
The Gunch has 4 main whiskers, unlike other catfish which have 2!
Also the Gunch has 300 or 500 little teeth!

Here is a 10 inch Gunch!

When the Gunch are very small, they have more colors and have a longer tail.
But when they are smaller, they don't have 4 main whiskers.
The Gunch was accused of 100 crimes or more!

Here is an 8 foot long Gunch!!!!

Here you can see its 2 big whiskers. The other ones are the 2 little ones on its nose.

Freshwater sharks - Part 3

The Glepheis shark is one of the rarest sharks that have ever existed.
The Glepheis shark can weigh 1300 pounds and reach up to 9 feet.
It has been accused of very few crimes.
Glepheis are found in the rivers of Australia, like the terrible Bull shark.
Like the Bull shark, the Glepheis has made its way into the rivers.

Here is a rare Glepheis shark!

Some people confuse the Bull shark with the Glepheis.
To differentiate them:
First look at the dorsal fin,  the one of the Glepheis is pretty short.
Secondly, the Glepheis has a big nose compered to the Bull shark.

Here is one of the biggest Glepheis ever caught!!!

Its pretty small because, Glepheis sharks are very rare!

Freshwater sharks - Part 2

The Saw fish is a shark, even if its called the Saw fish.
The Saw fish is really old. It used to exist in the dinosaur age.
With its Saw on the end of its head, the Saw fish can cut through enemies!
Like the Bull shark and the Glepheis shark, the Saw fish lives in the rivers of Australia and made its way into the rivers from the sea.
The Saw fish had bean accused of cutting and destroying the natives boats that were made of wood!!
It can grow up to 11 feet long and weigh 750 pounds.

Here is a 3 foot Saw fish!

You can see its saw with teethe on it.
This shark is also becoming extinct like many other fish, sadly.
But luckily, some people are catching them and tagging them so that when other people catch them, they know that they need to put them back into the water.

Here you can see the size of the saw!

Here is the biggest Saw fish ever caught!!!

Freshwater Shark - Part 1

The Bull shark is the biggest  shark that can go in freshwater. This shark has killed more people than the great white shark.
With its razor sharp teeth, the Bull shark is the most dangerous shark ever.
Bull sharks can grow up to 14 or 15 feet long and weigh 1700 pounds.

Here is a 2 feet Bull shark.

Strangely, Bull sharks are found in the rivers of New Zealand, Africa, Australia and the Amazon.
The Bull shark has done over 300 crimes in rivers and seas.
Normally, Bull sharks are found in the sea but somehow, they manage to get into rivers!
Bull sharks have a sense of smell that is very developed. They can sense prey from miles!!!

Deadly cold water Catfish

The Whales Catfish is the biggest cold water catfish.
It can grow to 15 feet long and weigh 500 pounds.
The whales catfish killed about 40 people and attacked 60-80 people.
Whales catfish can be green, yellow, grey, black, white or light green.

Here you can see a 2 to 3 foot long whales catfish!

It also has an eel-like tail so that when its attacked by other giant fish it can use it to speed away.
I have caught a few tiny whales catfish but they were only 6 inches long.
But I saw a big whales catfish when I dived in the water of Vicq-Sur-Garten (France). It was 4 foot long and it wasnt scared of me. Eventually it went off to the shadow water.
It was a nice exepirience.

Here is one of the biggest whales catfish ever caught!!!

In Chernobyl, Ukraine, the nuclear explosion left radiation all over it including in a nearby lake. And in this lake there were whales catfish and they mutated and have become bigger, stronger and more horrible looking.

Here is a baby mutant whales catfish!!!!

Giant Sturgeons - Part 2

The white Sturgeon is the third biggest Sturgeon after the Beluga . It can grow up to 20 feet long and weigh up to 1700 pounds.
This monster once was known as the Sea Serpent of Alaska because people in planes used to see the shape of a serpent but it was actually our white sturgeon. As it one pulled a 1400 pound tree, we know it can also pull tht weight.
The white sturgeon also has caviar, so humans also killed them. So, automatically they are also extinct like the Beluga!

Here is a 4 foot long whit sturgeon!

It also has 'feathers' on the nose with which it can sense little fish.
White sturgeons are known to make boats turn over. When boats have turned over, people have fallen into the icy waters and drowned.

White sturgeons are usually caught at 4 or 5 in the morning because this is the time that their prey (little fish) come to the surface to eat.

And here are some 20 or 22 feet long white Sturgeons!!!

Giant Sturgeons - Part 1

The Beluga is one of the biggest sturgeons that has ever existed. With its 2000 pound weight, and its 22 foot length , the beluga can also overthrow a fisherman. Normally the beluga is caught by net.

Before the rivers of Russia were infested with these beasts. But when humans discovered caviar and the price for it, all the people started fishing them. Slowly, the numbers of Beluga went down from thousands being caught per year. Now, only about  200-300 Belugas are left in the world.

Here you see a few Belugas of about of 3 or 4 feet length.

Here are  3 types of sturgeons. I would like you to guess and comment: which is the Beluga?

But luckily, each female Beluga spawns about 10,000 eggs per year!

Here are some 19 or 21 foot long belugas!!!!!

And here are all the eggs that the Beluga can carry !

Deadly Rays - Part 2

The 'Tchu Tchu de rio' is a short tail freshwater sting ray. It also has venom like other sting rays. Little is known about it but the natives of Argentina say that it can grow up to 20 feet long.

Here you can see the size of the barb.

Rays are also part of the family of sharks, it's basically a flattened shark.
It is sand colored to camouflage in the sand.
But the special thing in this ray is that it has 2 spines while other sting rays only have one.
So double the spine, double the power and double the quantity of venom.

And here is a 14 foot long 'Tchu Tchu de rio'!!!!

Deadly Rays - Part 1

Amazon rays can grow up to 16 feet long. With a deadly spine with venom that still has no cure, the natives of Argentina and of the Amazon fear this ray.

Here is a two foot long amazon sting ray!!!

These rays have little bumps on there tails which have all the venom in them. These rays have killed hundreds of people.
The freshwater rays have, on top of their eyes, 2 holes where they breathe from. So,  to hold them, you take hold of these holes.
They also have a mouth with little teeth which can crush through crustaceans.

And here is one of the biggest Amazon sting rays ever caught!!!!!!!!

Dangerous Eels - Part 3

The electric eel is an Amazon terminator. With its electrocuting scales, it can light a house up which is pretty amazing. This eel can electrocute a man or even a crocodile till death. It uses its skills to electrocute prey and eats them without electrocuting itself . It can grow until 6 or 7 foot long.

Here is what it looks like.

If you would touch one of these eels, you would probably die of electrocution!!!!

This eel has the power to grill meat and when it does that to your body, you will probably seem to have a fit  until you are dead. This eel doesn't have the normal thin head of an eel; when it electrifies a victim, its body lights up and, if the head had been thin, it would kill itself.

Legend says that Thor, the god of lightning, gave the power to the eel through a storm that hit it. and here is a 5 to 6 foot electric eel.

Dangerous Eels - Part 2

The Marble eel is the South Pacific terror. It is also known an the 'Tamtam' in the South Pacific islands. This specific eel is a little bit rare to catch. With its coloring, it in very confusing with sand because it has light yellow and white spots on the back of its head and back.

This is a 3 fool marble eel but they can grow up to 8 feet long. This eel has murdered about 100 people. It specially attacks the face of its victims, leaving a red mark which is a bite mark. But the natives had blamed an octopus, but an octopus in freshwater doesn't makes any sense as it is a salt water inhabitant. This eel feeds on other eels and mosquito fish.

And here are 7 foot large marble eels. When they become big, there colors evolve to brighter colors to attract females.

Dangerous Eels - Part 1

The long fin eel is the biggest eel of all times. It can grow up to 10 feet long. Carnivorous, it eats everything that can fit in its mouth. The long fin eel was and still is accused of killing and attacking people. It has been accused of about 300 or more crimes!!!!

Here is a 4 or 5 feel long long fin eel.

The long fin eel was discovered by Captain James Cook in New Zealand. The legend of the long fin was given by the natives of New Zealand. It was started by a giant sized monstruous eel which wanted to mate with a goddess .When it mated, the giant eel spawned 1.000 000 baby eels which spread to the whole world. The native people thought that it was a god and they did loads of sacrifices for the eels like killing themselves and putting the dead bodies in the river for the eels to eat.

The long fin eel has a very well developed sense of smell. They only used their sense of smell to catch prey because their eyes are very small and useless. When the prey is big, it takes the body and spins it round and round to take a chunk off the meat.

And here is a 5 to 7 foot long fin eel!!
